Restorative Therapy

A Definition

We call the therapy we provide to individuals, couples, or families Restorative Therapy.
It combines elements of classical Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy and Interpersonal Therapy with the Christian discipline of prayer.

It usually involves the following components:
  • Listening to an individual's story in order to find the roots of their spirit/soul disease, often a wound(s) from good things not given or hurtful things done to the person. We also use printed questionnaires for this purpose.
  • Helping the client to recognize their areas of spirit/soul wounding, as well as the maladaptive beliefs, vows, relational patterns, and behaviours that are counter productive in the person's life.
  • Often the road to recovery includes helping the client move to forgiveness of the perpetrator(s) of their wounded spirit/soul, or body.
  • Praying for healing of the wound by inviting Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit to heal the painful memory.
  • Encourage the client to daily make healthy lifestyle choices through mentoring and coaching.
  • Maintain accountability through follow-up sessions.
  • Encourage the client to become part of an ongoing small group.

Ministry is done in a very safe setting with sensitivity, according to the person’s need and openness. The actual ministry happens as trust is established through conversation and prayer. As a result many are set free from hidden forces that have controlled and driven them at a heart level.
True restoration involves more than just mental choices to forgive, manage behaviour and striving to be kind and loving.
Healing is a process of walking through trauma and giving the Lord Jesus Christ permission to touch all the areas in our lives in which we have been wounded.

Fee for Service

There is a fee for service of sixty dollars ($60.00) per hour for Restorative Therapy with individuals or couples.
Session length is usually ninety minutes, which lets us get to the deeper heart issues---ninety dollars ($90.00) per session.
We ask that you complete a Life History Form and return it to us prior to your first appointment.
A couple very good reasons for completing the life history are:
  • Working through the Life History begins the healing process.
  • As we read and pray through your life history we get a good idea of where we need to go during ministry, therefore saving you time and money.
